1. Breckenridge Summer Fun Park

If you’re looking for some family fun with a variety of activities, head to Breckenridge Summer Fun Park. This park sits atop the Breckenridge mountain ski resort, which is used for skiing excursions in the cold winter months. In the warm months, however, this resort is just as amazing of a place to visit, where you can take part in their exciting summer mountain activities, like hiking or bike riding through the beautiful scenery.

They also have exciting events and excursions planned just for the summer months that the whole family is sure to love. Some of these activities include their Goldrunner Coaster, their Alpine Slide, mini-golf, a bungee trampoline, gemstone mining, wall climbing, ziplining, and a ropes course. The Goldrunner Coaster is a roller coaster that rides on a track down 2,500 feet of mountain, taking you through a stunning forest. The coaster is an exhilarating experience to take in the sights of nature around you. Their alpine slide is a similar concept, where you can pick between three different slides going down 2,600 feet of the mountain! With so much to do and choose from, it’s easy to spend a whole day here trying out all this park has to offer.

2. Go on a Kayaking Excursion

Another fun activity to enjoy this summer with the family is kayaking on the gorgeous Lake Dillon. Adventure Paddle Tours has trained guides who can take you through some stunning scenery in Summit County. One of the best things about this opportunity is that you don’t need to have any previous experience with kayaking; the trained guides are able to teach you how to kayak properly. These guides know the area extremely well, and they also have certifications in the American Canoe Association, CPR, and First Aid basics.

The company specializes in guiding small groups, offering a tour specifically for families, thus making this adventure an amazing family summer outing. In group tours, everyone must be older than six years old. Additionally, if you’re going with more than eight people, you’ll receive a 10% discount! In the family tour specifically, you’ll be kayaking within Giberson Bay, where the water is known to be calm and safe.

To ensure additional safety and comfort for everyone, the company utilizes double kayaks rather than single kayaks. Kayakers will also receive a life jacket, a rain jacket, and fiberglass paddles. On top of it all, you’ll receive free HD photos from your adventure to treasure once you’re done! A kayaking trip is a wonderful way to explore the stunning scenery that Summit County, Colorado is so well known for!

3. Aerial Adventure Park

The aerial adventure park at Arapahoe Basin is both a fun and exhilarating activity to do this summer with your family. Described as a treetop adventure, you’ll be going through a ropes course surrounded by the natural beauty of Summit County, Colorado. The ropes course offers a variety of fun challenges; you’ll be doing everything from climbing, swinging, zipping, and more. There are 5 different adventure courses in total, and you can choose to go through one or all of them. However, take note that two of the courses are for beginners, two are for a medium level, and there is one advanced course. Each of the courses has a different requirement in terms of age and parental or guardian supervision, so be sure to check out their website for the full details!

There are over 70 different activity pieces to these thrilling courses. The whole park – including all 5 courses – usually takes around 2 hours to complete, and anyone over the age of 4 and over 50 pounds can complete at least one course.

After your time is up, Arapahoe Basin offers other things to do, such as a scenic chair lift ride up the mountain, or eating dinner at their restaurant: 6th Alley Bar & Grill. They even have a disc golf course. With all of these fun activities available in one place, Arapahoe Basin’s adventure park and more make it an ideal place to spend time outdoors with the family.

4. Visit a Bike Park

If you’re looking to stay active outdoors this summer, you might like taking a visit to Frisco Adventure Park’s famous bike park! This park has everything you need to experience bike riding in a way you may have never tried before. It contains a pump track, slopestyle course, dirt jumps, and a dual slalom course. The pump course is a dirt loop and is perfect for people of all ages, as well as bike riding skill levels. There’s no doubt about it; the bike course is extremely family-friendly and full of fun.

In the slopestyle course, there are different levels of difficulty for terrain, and the course has a mixture of dirt jumps and classic mountain biking. This is an amazing way for people of all skill levels to learn some new things they can do with their bikes. The dirt jump facility is the place where you can go to specifically focus on learning how to do these jumps and tricks. The final area is the dual slalom course, which is all about racing and speed. The track has lots of slopes and bumps and turns, and it is the perfect place to go if you’re interested in going fast on a bike or having a friendly race with a friend. This park is completely free for the public to use! The only rules are to make sure that everyone you go with is wearing the proper safety equipment, like helmets and other protective gear. This is a fun way to enjoy the scenic outdoors of Summit County with your family all while staying active together for next to nothing price-wise.
